Curators of the artistic programme of ESK 2025

Introducing the curators of the artistic program of the East of Culture Festival European Stadium of Culture 2025!

Music:
Małgorzata Płysa – director and curator of the Krakow-based Unsound electronic and experimental music festival, whose editions also take place in Adelaide, New York, Toronto, London and many other places around the world. The festival is known for its interdisciplinary activities and commissioning new artistic works. She is also the co-director of the creative agency Unsound Productions, where she deals with the management of artists, representation of special projects, as well as the creation of new artistic commissions and events. She organizes festival activities as well as being the president of the Krakow-based Tone Foundation – Music and New Forms of Art, which is also part of platforms and networks such as ICAS, SHAPE, and We Are Europe. Since 2020, she has also been the co-artistic director of the Warsaw-based interdisciplinary festival Ephemera. In his work, he focuses on searching for innovative forms of artistic expression – primarily in sound art, music and contemporary art, as well as creating new forms of cooperation between creators, improving cultural education and international exchange of ideas and experiences that influence the expansion of intersectional diversity in culture. He is interested in the phenomenon of synesthesia and has his own line of perfumes inspired by sound – Ephemera.

Performance arts:
Dominik Więcek – dancer, choreographer, performer, fashion photographer and stylist. His works are filled with humor, lightness and playfulness. As a choreographer and performer, he deconstructs the history of dance, norms and theatrical traditions. He tries to build bridges between biographical threads and the experiences of the audience. He believes in performances in which sincerity can be situated somewhere between privacy and extreme theatrical formality. In his performances, he plays with theatre genres, experiments with his own image and questions social norms
A graduate of the PWST in Kraków, the Dance Theatre Department in Bytom, a scholarship holder of the Folkwang Universität der Kunste in Essen. In the years 2016-2019, a dancer-artist of the Polish Dance Theatre in Poznań. He has collaborated with many esteemed choreographers and directors, co-created dance and theatre performances. His solo work Café Müller was selected for the Aerowaves #twenty23 network, and his latest work Glory Game was selected for the Aerowaves #twenty25 network, which is an exceptionally prestigious distinction

Visual arts:
Jan Możdżyński – an artistic person. He deals with visual arts, mainly painting and ceramics. He lives and works in Warsaw, where he graduated from the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in 2018. In his work, he addresses topics that are important to him, related to feminism, gender identity, cultural gender, sexual minorities, and autoeroticism. He addresses the topics of queer identities, the interpenetration of the world of games and fantasy and the virtual worlds of computer games with the real world, as well as numerous fetishes from the BDSM community and objects related to them. In his works, he tries to capture situations related to role-playing, disintegrate what is traditionally understood as male and female. He has presented his works at several individual exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions.
He also practices boxing and conducts free boxing classes for friends and strangers.

Małgorzata Płysa, Jan Możdżyński and Dominik Więcek have taken over the artistic supervision of the East of Culture festival program European Stadium of Culture 2025, which will take place in Rzeszów on June 27–29, 2025.
