"Umwelt" is the latest project by Adam Ziajski, founder of the "Scena Robocza" Association and creator of the plays "Nie Mów nikt" (Don't Tell Anyone) and "Spokorz na mnie" (Look at Me), dedicated to socially excluded individuals. This time, the director has invited three characters with different perceptions of reality to collaborate – a deaf person, a person with AuDHD, and a person experiencing synesthesia. The title term means "around-the-world" in German: the environment that doesn't so much surround us as encompasses what is important and truly perceptible to us. It is a subjective world of senses, reactions, and meanings.
"Umwelt" is an artistic and research experiment in which neurotechnology meets the humanities, allowing the audience to immerse themselves in a multi-sensory experience through biofeedback. It is a laboratory recording of co-presence, based on the neural activity of the performers, the physiological responses of the audience, and the specificity of the theatrical environment. The process creates a digital model of collective experience.
