Romanesque Art – We are Constructing a Rotunda
- January 18, 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Rzeszowskie Piwnice
- tickets at the price of PLN 35 available online or at the box office of Rzeszowskie Piwnice
During the third meeting, in the lecture part, participants will become familiar with the philosophy and the most important monuments of the era using examples of European and Polish art. In the lecture part, we will focus mainly on architecture and answer the questions: why was Romanesque art, with its austere forms and massive walls, a response to the social and spiritual unrest of the times? We will analyze why churches were built on a cross plan and what the sculptural details on their facades meant. In the workshop part, participants will create a miniature rotunda inspired by Romanesque architecture.
The Artistic Dictionary is a series of meetings on the history of art, created with children and young people in mind. This is a great opportunity to expand your school knowledge and an invitation to discover and explore the world of art – both Polish and international. The topics of the classes will be discussed chronologically, from prehistory to the 20th century, and each meeting will be divided into two parts: theoretical – a short introduction to the topic and practical – art workshops, during which participants will learn interesting techniques and materials.
The meetings will be held once a month, every third Saturday, from October to June. You can take part in the entire series or only in those classes that interest you the most. The leader will be Adrianna Froń – art historian, art teacher and student of Contemporary Art at UKEN in Krakow.
