The oldest art galleries are located in caves, and the artists who created the paintings decorating their rough walls were excellent observers of nature. In the lecture part, participants will become familiar with prehistoric art, learn about the periodization of individual eras, the most important artifacts of that time and potential interpretations of the symbolism of cave paintings. Together we will consider what significance animal representations could have had - were they just decoration or perhaps an element of hunting rituals? In the workshop part, participants will be inspired by the most famous cave paintings and will create their own paintings using natural organic pigments.
The Artistic Dictionary is a series of meetings on the history of art, created with children and young people in mind. It is a great opportunity to expand school knowledge and an invitation to discover and explore the world of art - both Polish and international. The topics of the classes will be discussed chronologically, from prehistory to the 20th century, and each meeting will be divided into two parts: theoretical - a short introduction to the topic and practical - art workshops, during which participants will learn interesting techniques and materials.
The meetings will be held once a month, every third Saturday, from October to June. You can take part in the entire series or only in those classes that interest you the most. The leader will be Adrianna Froń - art historian, art teacher and student of Contemporary Art at UKEN in Krakow.
