On September 6, 2025, at 5:00 PM, at the Rzeszów Cellars, at the initiative of the Office of the Municipal Conservator of Monuments and Revitalization – New Center in Rzeszów, a meeting will be held to promote the issue of the national quarterly "Renovations and Monuments," which is entirely devoted to Rzeszów, its history, selected monuments, their creators, and initiatives aimed at their broad protection and promotion. The theme of the meeting will be "Monuments increasingly closer to the present... the Rzeszów projects of Z. Brodowski and W. Cęckiewicz."
This will be a meeting with two authors – Małgorzata Szelechowska and Jakub Turbasa – who published articles in the magazine "Renowacje i Zabytki" (Renovations and Monuments) devoted to two renowned artists of the post-war period: Zbigniew Brodowski and Witold Cęckiewicz. Despite their national and even global recognition, they remain poorly recognized in Rzeszów. Both have made their mark on our city through outstanding architectural and applied art projects. This meeting is also a unique opportunity to obtain issue 4 (92) of "Renovations and Monuments" (2024), dedicated entirely to the city of Rzeszów and its historic fabric, completely free of charge!
The upcoming European Heritage Days 2025, which traditionally take place in September, are the occasion for this meeting on September 6th of this year at Rzeszów Cellars. The 2025 edition will take place on September 13-14 and 20-21 of this year, and the theme of this year's edition is "Towards Architecture. Young Heritage." In the case of the aforementioned artists' works in Rzeszów, we're talking about the modern movement of the 1960s and 1970s, which became extremely popular in Poland and set trends. Zbigniew Brodowski is the author of the monumental glass mosaic decorating the façade of the Podkarpacka Philharmonic in Rzeszów. This work is considered the artist's most outstanding, and he created both in Poland and abroad. Witold Cęckiewicz, in turn, designed two religious buildings in Rzeszów: the Church of Our Lady of La Salette and the Rzeszów Cathedral, along with the rectory. And when it comes to this artist's work, we're talking in capital letters, as well as about domestic and international projects. The event will be hosted by Alicja Karłowska, a journalist from Polish Radio Rzeszów.
