Gabriela Kurnyta "The Life of a Carp" - an exhibition as part of the My First Gallery project.
Gabriela Kurnyta is the winner of the open call for the first edition of the My First Gallery project - a program supporting artistic debuts. The "The Life of a Carp" exhibition is her solo show, which opens a new series at the Rzeszów Culture Incubator.
The title "the life of a carp" is a family saying invented by the artist's grandfather, used to describe a state when the day gets out of control, and everything becomes a bit funny, a bit strange, and above all uncontrolled and surprisingly accurate. This moment between tiredness and freedom has become a metaphor for the creative process for the artist - based on intuition, experiment, feeling.
Her works do not tell directly, do not illustrate. Rather, they build an atmosphere that works through presence, tension, contact. Instead of clear messages - images and forms that stay with the viewer on their own terms.
No instructions, no pressure. Just let yourself be drawn in.
Gabriela Kurnyta (born 2003) – visual artist, second-year student of the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. Graduate of the Art High School in Rzeszów. In her work, she focuses on emotions, form, structure and movement. She does not limit herself to one medium – she experiments with various techniques, treating the creative process as a space for free expression. Her works balance between intuition and conscious construction, creating a personal, open artistic language. She received the Special Award of the Director of the Regional Cultural Center in Częstochowa in the International Competition of Digital Photocreation "Cyberfoto" in 2025.
Adrianna Gajdziszewska - Visual artist and art historian, specializing in sculpture, installation and ceramics. Participant of numerous exhibitions, competitions and residencies in Poland and abroad. Scholarship holder of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, Santander Bank and KPO, twice distinguished in the "Kompas Sztuki" (2023, 2024). Creator of the portal @twardasztuka_com, combines artistic activity with education, developing teaching materials and conducting lectures and workshops. Matura examiner in art history.
