On January 21, 2025 at 6:00 PM, a ceremonial gala will be held at the Podkarpacka Philharmonic in Rzeszów to celebrate the 671st anniversary of the foundation of the city of Rzeszów.
On January 19, 1354, King Casimir the Great gave our city to a diplomat and knight, his close associate Jan Pakosławic, who took the surname Rzeszowski. From that time on, the history of the city of Rzeszów began, which continues to this day.
The Gala to celebrate the 671st anniversary of the foundation of the city of Rzeszów is a journey through the history, culture and present day of a city that has inspired residents and artists for centuries. We will show the uniqueness of our city through the uniqueness of people - outstanding personalities and their influence on all areas of life, from science to art. During the Gala, we will combine tradition with modernity, introducing unique elements, including artificial intelligence. Three types of awards will be granted: Rzeszów Personality, Rzeszów City Economic Award and Meritorious for the City of Rzeszów, and the entire ceremony will be broadcast live on the Rzeszów capital of Innovation profile.
The gala will be hosted by Adam Głaczyński and Łukasz Błąd, who are responsible for the script.
The artistic concept was based on a project by Bartłomiej Skubisz: Re Migracje. Rzeszów as a stage.
This is a verbal and musical project with elements of photography showing the culture-forming role of Rzeszów, as a city that has long been a place to which outstanding artists traveled, or from which they set off into the world, or where they stopped for a while. B. Skubisz's texts show fragments of the lives or works of outstanding Polish artists for whom Rzeszów was a stage, a starting point or in some way left a mark on their lives.
During the Gala, we will see a special edition of the project with the participation of Dorota Miśkiewicz and the Lejdis Quartet.
Dorota Miśkiewicz - vocalist, violinist, composer and lyricist. She graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw in the violin class. She is known to the public primarily as a vocalist. The daughter of the famous saxophonist Henryk Miśkiewicz and the sister of the jazz drummer Michał Miśkiewicz. She has collaborated and performed with the biggest stars of show business, including Tomasz Stańko, Wojciech Waglewski, Nigel Kennedy, Jan "Ptaszyn" Wróblewski, Kuba Badach, Wojciech Młynarski, Louis Winsberg and Stefano Bollani. An artist who is nostalgic, old-fashioned and searching at the same time. Her trademark are atmospheric, lyrical compositions balancing on the border of genres. She has experimented with African, Balkan, free jazz and classical music.
