On January 23, 2025, we invite you to Rzeszow Piwnice for an exceptional concert of the Wrocław band EABS. This is an extraordinary opportunity to hear one of the most important Polish jazz collectives of recent years. The band will present material from the latest album "Reflections of Purple Sun", which is the result of their constant artistic exploration. There will also be songs from previous albums, which have consolidated EABS' position on the jazz scene in Poland and abroad.

EABS has been redefining Polish jazz for over a decade, combining classical with contemporary urban music influences. Their style, described as “reconstruction from deconstruction,” takes listeners on a unique sonic journey—from Komeda-inspired jazz, through Slavic melancholy, to bold cosmic experiments.

Reflections of Purple Sun - EABS’s tribute to Tomasz Stańko

EABS’ sixth album, Reflections of Purple Sun, is a unique return to the roots of Polish jazz. The album was inspired by Tomasz Stańko’s iconic Purple Sun, recorded half a century ago. Reinterpreting the work of the outstanding trumpeter, EABS pays homage to his extraordinary musical sensitivity and the Slavic spirit that permeated his work.

The recordings were made on the 50th anniversary of the original release, in a special place—Stańko’s Warsaw apartment, full of his instruments and memorabilia. Kuba Kurek played the Monette XLT+ trumpet, the last instrument chosen by Stańko, which the artist did not have time to use in his work.

Reflections of Purple Sun is a study of rhythm that combines tradition with modernity, continuing the dialogue with the master of Polish jazz. The album was released by Astigmatic Records on May 10, 2024.

Interestingly, the audience in Rzeszów had the opportunity to hear the material from "Reflections of Purple Sun" in its initial form for the first time as part of the Toast Tomasza Stańko in 2022. The outstanding trumpeter and composer was born in the capital of the Podkarpacie region. In January, EABS returns to Podkarpacie to present their mature work, as well as to continue the dialogue between tradition and modernity, which is the essence of their work.
