During the meeting, participants will learn to decipher the symbols hidden in Hieronymus Bosch's painting "Curing Stupidity."
Hieronymus Bosch is one of those artists we immediately recognize, yet whose uniqueness makes him impossible to compare or contrast. This original work from the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries is renowned for its compositions filled with bizarre figures, a tangle of which is truly captivating. Among the painter's rich legacy, we have chosen a more subdued yet no less fascinating painting to examine: "Curing Stupidity," located in the Prado in Madrid.
As part of the next installment of Czas Sztuki (Time of Art), in addition to lectures, we offer painting-reading workshops. This time, we will examine works by the world's most distinguished artists.
The "Czas Sztuki – Interpretacje" (Time of Art – Interpretations) classes are devoted to the conscious perception of works of art and the interpretation of paintings. The program includes analysis of composition, symbolism, emotions captured in paintings, and historical context, enabling a better understanding of the messages conveyed in the works.
Lecturer:
Jolanta Bobala - a graduate of art history at the Institute of Art History at the Jagiellonian University. She is interested in turn-of-the-century painting, photography, and methods of painting interpretation. She has published in "Szum" magazine. She collaborates with the Education Department of the National Museum in Krakow. She leads guided tours of Krakow and Krakow museums as part of the Art to go! program.
